You may have heard of the private capital market or the exempt market but what are these markets? How can companies access funds in this marketplace and what investment opportunities exist in these markets?
 
The Private Capital Markets Association of Canada (Alberta Chapter) and the Calgary Chamber are pleased to present a co-hosted seminar, providing insights and information about the private capital market.
 

Who should attend?

Owners, entrepreneurs, leaders and managers alike, who require funding, from start-ups, to growth of mature companies. This seminar will be of interest to investors seeking opportunities to expand and diversify portfolios. This seminar is intended to provide entry level information and education on the private capital market in Canada and the roles of Exempt Market Dealers and Dealer Representatives.

Meet our Presenters

 

Stephen Johnston,  Director of EQUICAPITA
Stephen will discuss his experiences in the private capital markets as a fund manager and provide an overview of opportunities and benefits of the private capital markets.
Bio: Stephen has over 15 years’ experience as a fund manager from the debt and private equity perspectives. Stephen founded an asset management business, including Canada’s first RRSP/TFSA eligible farmland investment vehicle.
 
Neil Hutton, President, PCMA Alberta Chapter, Partner, McLeod Law LLP
As a securities lawyer Neil will provide an overview of the key regulatory policies that impact on the Private Capital Markets.
Bio: Neil is a partner in the Corporate | Commercial Group of McLeod Law and head of the firm's Private Capital Markets Group. Neil has 25 years' experience providing business-focused legal advice, from exempt market financings, mergers and acquisitions, stock exchange listings, corporate governance regulatory compliance, corporate re-organizations and shareholder matters.
 
Aaron Taylor, President of CVC Marketpoint
As the president of an Exempt Market Dealer, Aaron will explain the role of an Exempt Market Dealer in the Private Capital Markets . He will explain how companies can raise capital in this marketplace, in the Private Capital Markets.
Bio: Aaron is the President, Ultimate Designated Person and a director of CVC Market Point. Between 2010 and 2015, he oversaw the sales, marketing and communications related to the distribution of exempt market investment products across Canada in the roles of Vice President, Sales and Marketing and Director of Distribution Services. His previous roles have included operations, project manager and account management positions in real estate development and the oil & gas sector across Canada.
